“Celebrity” cares

Being aware of the tension and pressure people undergo whilst moving, we would like to help you by reminding you of several important tasks you must complete before, during and after your relocation.

Before

  • Check yours and your family’s passports, licenses, residence permits etc., ensuring they are up-to-date
  • Obtain birth certificates (if applicable) of your family members that may be required abroad (for education etc.)
  • Collect school or medical records
  • Collect items you have lent and return ones that you have borrowed
  • Make arrangements to sell or donate items you are not shipping
  • Collect any carpets, blankets, clothing from cleaners
  • Arrange to transfer/close bank and charge accounts
  • Arrange Inoculations, if required (for you and your pets)
  • Inquire about requirements for shipping your pets. For some animals and of course depending on the destination, there are many time-consuming requirements
  • Notify friends, colleagues, associates etc. of your new address
  • Give your local post-office your forwarding address
  • Make your ticket and hotel reservations
  • If needed, separate and mark items that are for different transport modes (air, road, sea freight or storage) or different destinations
  • Have your valued itemized list prepared which will be required if you wish to insure your shipment
  • If you feel it will ease some of your “moving tension”, order some cartons in advance, start packing your personal belongings (but whatever you do, leave the fragile items and furniture for the professionals!)
  • When weather is rainy, place your outdoor furniture in a covered area so that items are not wet at time of removal
  • If you are taking plants, firstly please check as many destinations prohibit them; secondly, kindly water them at the latest 3 days before the removal

  • Inquire about the estimated time of arrival of your shipment so you can select clothing you will take with you on your trip (make sure you consider the climate condition at destination)
  • Defrost and air your refrigerator 24 hours prior to your packing date if necessary
  • Back-up important information from your computer. You can save large amounts of data using USB sticks
  • Remove toner cartridges from printers and dispose of them as the leaking ink can cause damage to the printer
  • If you are moving your washing machine, ensure you have the drum securing bolts or bar and secure the drum after your last washing cycle.
  • Ensure that all important documents, passports, tickets, etc. are put aside to avoid them being packed by mistake

During

  • Make arrangements for disconnection of utilities and telephone
  • Make a plan of your new home and advise the move coordinator to mark the items accordingly in order to ensure a smooth delivery at destination
  • Check each room and closet together with the move coordinator or crew foreman for any forgotten items while packers are at your residence
  • If possible, ensure that you or someone responsible is present during the packing process to answer questions that may be posed by the packing crew
  • Make arrangements with neighbors to allow ample parking space for our vehicles on loading/delivery day

After

  • When you arrive at your destination country, call the destination agent (given to you by the moving co.) and give them your contact telephone number
  • When your shipment is finally delivered, make sure you check for possible damages/losses as soon as possible. In the event of any damage, please contact us or the destination agent who will assist you in filing your claim
  • Please keep in mind that most household removal companies offer destination/relocation services that you may find will best assist you to settle into your new home quickly, so don’t hesitate to contact the destination agent to ask for a cleaning lady, a handyman, a carpenter or another technician.
